How we ended up...

It doesn't feel like much time has passed since the midterm reflection.  Since then we have really focused on working with the fourth graders from Charlotte Bradshaw's class at Apache Elementary.  This experience has become one of the most rewarding.  I look forward to working with these kids every week.  The two boys I work with are completely different.  As a teacher, I have learned so many different things that will help me with my own classroom.  I have learned the four square method, which I love.  I have learned to adjust my teaching to fit each child's needs.  As a person, I have gotten to know some really cool kids who I will never forget.  I have learned good stratagies to encourage students to write.  I feel that we could have used more time to make sure that every student could develop the best story ever and focus a little more on the illustration.  Towards the end of the semester, I felt kind of rushed to get everything done.   Because we were in such a rush to make sure that everything go done for the fourth graders, we didn't spend as much time with book talks.  It would have been nice to spend a little more time on these.  The case study was also started a little late.  I really enjoyed getting to know Kobe.  Being culturally aware was really helpful when working with both boys especially William.  He was really difficult to work with some days, but because I was aware of his background I was able to get past it.  This experience will really help me when I am a teacher.  Teachers can't choose their students but they can choose their attitudes toward those students.  I am really excited about the author's chair and seeing the books published.  I really think that the students will enjoy it as well because they get to see all their hard work apprieciated.  Hopefully these students will use this experience in a positive way and be able to succeed in their future academic careers.

I feel like I have earned my A in this class.  I have worked really hard during this semester and have learned many lessons both as a teacher and as a person.  I am excited to continue my work as a teacher and to be able to help as many students as I can.  The hard part will be to realize that I can't do everything and reach everyone, but I will try.
